I found Nick's June posting about Purslane and Lambsquarter to be especially appropriate for me. I have a significant quantity of each and I have to decide if it is a weed or a crop (it can be really hard to get rid of Purslane).
If it's a crop, I need to start managing it properly.
If it's a weed, I need to eradicate it.
These plants are obviously well-acclimated to this region as native plants. They don't seem to be widely available to purchase.
For this to be a crop, I have to see a solid market for it.
What is the level of interest in these greens?

Why not bring some to the Cityfoods booth at the farmer's market and see if people want it? Maybe just prepare it and give away samples. The fish guy in the booth across the aisle there cooks up small portions of fish for people to sample.
I think purslane is good just as a raw snack, Lambsquarters we would need some recipe to prepare it. I like to chop up lambsquarters and put it in chicken soup. The beauty of lambsquarters is it turns a beautiful bright green when you cook it.
