A pressure cooker - one of small size is very handy to quickly convert dry legumes and grams into meals. Mine is stainless steel, made in Germany and fancy. It cost a lot... ~ $120. But it is a lifetime investment. With a three quart [3 liter] volume, it makes just the right amount of food for 3 or 4 people. Saves time and gas.
I chose not to purchase an aluminum pressure cooker. Most pressure cookers are much larger than this model.
Typically I take 1.5 cups of dried chickpeas, black beans or soybeans and soak them in water overnight. They swell to just under 4 cups volume (shown above) about the maximum volume that my pressure cooker can safely contain. The following day the beans require only about 30 minutes to thoroughly cook them. Schnelltopf is the Prince of the Kitchen. Since ownership, its service has improved my diet, lessened stovetop cooking time, and reduced household food costs.

I love my pressure cooker! :-)
